Oliver got his tonsils and adenoids out about nine days ago. It took until about now for him to finally feel better. It was quite the adventure.
I was so worried and anxious about the actual surgery that I didn't give much thought to the recovery. I should have given it more thought.
For the past eight days he was taking Tylenol with Codeine around the clock. Every four hours. It would start to wear off after about three hours. Once it wore off, we had a rabid, wild animal on our hands. I have never, ever in all my life seen a child so upset. Oliver would thrash around on the floor and kick and scream. It would take Mark and me pinning him down to give him his medicine. So every four hours we encountered this ordeal. Let's just say that I had many parenting lows this week.
We are so thankful that he had the surgery though. He now breathes like a normal kid. He doesn't snore and he doesn't sound like Darth Vader when he breathes. In the long run, he should get more restful sleep and have more energy.
